my buddy todd and I have this hobby….we like to visit the graves of
people who seem interesting to us….i did an on air thingy at whhp in
farmer city illinois a week or so ago and we figured while we were in
the area we may as well visit the grave of edgar lee masters in petersburg
….he was a poet and is most famous for writing “the spoon river
anthologies”…when we pulled up there was a cat sitting on his grave…it
looked like the cat hadn’t eaten in a while and it was obviously a stray…it’s
scrawny and flea bitten…..i walked around the graveyard for about an hour
and the cat never left my side…it followed me around like a little puppy….we
figured that we better feed it so we drove back into town and bought some
cat food and brought it back to the graveyard…when I got out of the car the cat
took off running towards me from about twenty yards away….it inhaled the food
like it hadn’t eaten in a week…that’s about the time that todd and I broke
down and took the damn thing home with us….it’s one of the best cats I’ve
ever been around…it sits on my lap every time I sit down and sleeps under
my beard at night…I was going to try to find a home for it but amy and I fell
in love with it…it’s stuck with us :)….i wanted to name it edgar but it’s a girl…then
I wanted to name it emily (sparks) (from masters poem) but we are still
Undecided…any ideas?
